What can I say? Out of the box. Remington factory 50 gr ammo. Fixed 6x Burris. Five shot group at 100 yards covered by a qaurter! This is a fantastic light and quick handling "minuature" mauser. I have been looking for a field gun that has a little more oomph than the Hornet and is easier to reload. The 221 can be loaded down to Hornet velocities/noise level or loads varry from 50 gr at 3100 fps to 40 gr at 3600 fps and beyond. And with very miserly use of materials. 16 gr of Lilgun and a 40 gr bullet. Wilson hand dies to extend brass life and you get high quality reloads for about 30 cents.
The Stock is excellent with deep checkereing and the barrel is free floated -- you can slide a dollar bill between barrel and stock. The single set trigger is a big surprise. Maybe 3.5 lbs till you push it forward till it clicks, then 1.5 lbs. All steel no platic and anice solid 5 shot mag. The bolt face can''t take anything bigger than 223/222 thus the short miniature masuer action.
It comes with CZ rings, which means the rear ring has an indexing notch similar to Rugger to be solid against recoil (not a problem with the Fireball) and the front ring is free.
I like the rifle and the cartride. My search for a great light varmint and small to medium game rifle may be over. The quickness with which it comes to the shoulder is very nice. Remeber how John Wayne was so big that he could handle a Winchester like it was a toy? This CZ isn''t that light, but it feels mighty good.
Best endorsement? I bough another one and I''m selling a couple of 77/22 Hornets!
